After a MRI yesterday on his right hamstring, Shane Victorino just needed to pass an exam this morning in order to fly to Baltimore. There must have been no signs of improvement because he was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 30, according to reports.
The Hawaii native left Saturday’s game after tweaking the hamstring running the bases against the Minnesota Twins in a Grapefruit League contest.
While the 33-year-old might need more than the 15 days to get healthy, Jackie Bradley Jr. finds himself back in the majors as he was up in Baltimore Sunday night just in case he was needed right away. He won’t be in the Opening Day lineup, but he should see quite a bit of time in right.
As for the Opening Day lineup, Daniel Nava will take the top spot in the order and take over in right for the ailing right fielder. The 31-year-old has limited time in the leadoff spot, but has done fairly well, including a couple home runs this spring and an average
above .280 in 39 at-bats last season. Mike Carp will start in left and bat in the middle of the lineup.
